Paranoid was one of the first songs I learned and was a lot of fun to play. Holiday is fun too.
Good to learn some simple songs to start off with. I mostly concentrate on scales in my free video guitar lessons.
It's good to start with easy song first.
awesome
I have to disagree that the godfather theme by slash is an easy song... it's easy for slash..lol
Free Bird easy? maybe the main part....not the solo...
Godfather theme easy? yeah ok, not the song I'd teach a student after a month...

Video Gone
Lets go by little john (originally crazy train by ozzie) is pretty simple
Good Riddance by Greenday is a pretty simple song to learn and play. Sounds good too. Also some versions of Let it Be by the beatles.
Great Stuff here...
I am downloading all of the songs on your list to my new iPhone...No disappointments yet on the ones I have already had a chance to listen to so far.
Well Done
i picked up play guitar a few weeks ago,and its pretty hard to just learn the chords. im looking forward to playing some good ol` johnny reb. WHITE POWER
Some of the songs mentioned are good suggestions. But I would exclude SWEET HOME ALABAMA since that's more of an intermediate song (takes a while for most to get the correct feel at tempo).
Someone in the comments mentioned the Beatles: without a doubt. An gtr version of IMAGINE is a sure-win, as is LET IT BE (w/o the solo of course).
And ppl, how could we almost forget IRON MAN? That's power-chord heaven. And the riffs are very easy since the tempo is so slow. Again, everything but the solo, and a Beginner should be fine with that one.
Also, LA BAMBA (again, solo excluded) by Los Lobos and MY GIRL by the Temptations--whole song, modulation included!
Happy fretting,
6SV
ob la di ob la da is 68 off the white album, not 70's. Besides the white album mistakes, accurate and great list
I would argue about Sweet Home Alabama being one of the easier songs to learn.
There are some basic blues bars/blues songs that can be fairly easy and sound good without being real fast.
Pat Benatar's "Hit me with your best shot" is easy, so is Joan Jett's "I love Rock and Roll" for the most part.
Also do not forget some old Black Sabbath stuff like Paranoid or Iron Man for their rythm parts. The solos are not beginner stuff, but then again if you are going to list Sweet Home Alabama then you could list these.
Ah! They've taken that Black Sabbath video down. That's a shame I'd love to add that to my beginners repertoire. I'll be looking up the other stuff there, I really need to improve my playing of other people's stuff. :)
I love the Moody Blues a classic rock band many have forgot about the songs have easy chords and are great to play
I stRted off with a song of my own, look up a couple of easy chords on the Internet or whatever and then make a little tune, then find and easy song to learn that sounds kinda like the one you made and wham! On the road to being a rock star
Also try these easy ones:
Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Brain Stew by Green Day
Chop Suey! by System Of A Down
Home by Three Days Grace
Lithium by Nirvana
Breed by Nirvana
Rape Me by Nirvana
and I Stand Alone by Godsmack (need wah wah pedal for solo).
I've been playing guitar since July and it's Christmas eve now. I know all of these songs and they're really easy. Another few that are a bit more difficult but still pretty easy are:
So Far Away by Avenged Sevenfold
We Come Out At Night by Avenged Sevenfold
Hearts Burst Into Fire by Bullet For My Valentine (learn to finger-tap for the solo)
and Whatsername by Green Day...
Hope this helped! Rock on, my brothers!!!
it is so stupid

Too cool for school. This is really good for me. I have been learning chords from an article I found that I posted on hub pages. I hope it's the right info - it makes sense so far. Thanks heaps for your hub - it's all going to help. There is so much to learn.
